FG Declares Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr Celebration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who congratulated the Muslim community across the country for successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalen Ajani, conveyed the government's message urging Muslims to uphold the core values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice that define the Ramadan period. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of reflecting on these virtues beyond the fasting season as part of efforts to build a harmonious society.

He called on citizens, regardless of their religious affiliations, to use this festive period to pray for national peace and unity, and to sustain progress. The government reiterated its commitment to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians as millions prepare to celebrate this significant festival in the Islamic calendar.
