Lagos Chief Judge Declares One-Week Court Vacation

Kazeem Alogba, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, has approved a one-week vacation for the state judiciary to observe the Easter celebration, which will run from April 3 to April 10, 2026. Full court sessions are expected to resume on Monday, April 13, 2026.

A public notice regarding this vacation was issued by the Chief Registrar, Tajudeen Elia, on behalf of the Chief Judge. The vacation is granted in accordance with Order 49 Rule 4(b) of the High Court of Lagos State Civil Procedure Rules 2019.

Despite the break, the judiciary has implemented measures to ensure that pressing cases are not delayed. Arrangements have been made for judges assigned to vacation duties to attend to urgent applications arising from cases that have not yet been assigned to court.

The Chief Registrar further clarified that urgent matters will still be considered and may be heard during this period, subject to the conditions outlined in Order 49 Rule 5 of the High Court of Lagos State Civil Procedure Rules 2019.
