Lagos Judiciary Announces 2026 Easter Vacation Dates

The Lagos State Judiciary has officially announced its Easter vacation for 2026, during which court activities will be paused from April 3 to April 10. This announcement was made in a notice signed by Chief Registrar Mr.

Tajudeen Elia. The vacation was approved by the state Chief Judge, Justice Kazeem Alogba, in accordance with Order 49 Rule 4(b) of the High Court of Lagos State Civil Procedure Rules 2019.

Full judicial activities are expected to resume on April 10, 2026, with a complete return to normal operations anticipated by April 13, 2026. Despite the break, the judiciary has assured the public that measures are in place to address urgent matters during the vacation period.

Mr. Elia stated that designated judges will attend to urgent applications related to cases already assigned, although specific judges handling these applications were not identified.

Furthermore, urgent cases may be heard during the vacation period, provided they adhere to the conditions outlined in Order 49 Rule 5 of the High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2019.
