Northern Christian Leaders Demand Action Against Violence

On the eve of Easter, Northern Christian leaders, including Rev. Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Northern Christian Forum, and Bishop Moham Naga, Secretary General, expressed deep concern over the persistent violent attacks in Northern Nigeria.

They condemned recent incidents, particularly in Plateau and Kaduna States, which resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. The leaders noted that the Easter season, which should be a time of joy and spiritual reflection, is overshadowed by grief and fear due to ongoing violence.

They highlighted that attacks have become a recurring pattern during Christian holy seasons, raising serious questions about the adequacy of existing security arrangements. The forum criticized the federal government's response, urging security agencies to move beyond routine condemnations and demonstrate genuine commitment to ending violence.

They also called for religious and community leaders to promote peace and unity. The statement reaffirmed the leaders' commitment to advocating for peace, justice, and security for Christians in Northern Nigeria, encouraging them to maintain hope and resilience amid challenges.
