Ebonyi Leaders Endorse Odii, Reject Zoning for 2027 Poll

The Umuekumenyi Leader Council, a prominent leadership group in Ebonyi State, convened a meeting on Sunday in Abakaliki, where they rejected the concept of zoning in favor of selecting leaders based on competence and proven performance. The council expressed concerns over declining governance standards, economic hardship, youth unemployment, and a perceived slowdown in development across the state.

They urged the state government to address economic challenges, including rising living costs and declining business opportunities, and called for greater transparency and public engagement. The council adopted Chief Ifeanyichukwu Odii of the People's Democratic Party as their preferred candidate for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for February 6, 2027.

Emmanuel Nwobo, the spokesperson for the group, stated that Odii represents a credible alternative for the state’s leadership during this critical period.
