Ebonyi LG Elections Scheduled for August 22, APC Campaigns

The Local Government Area (LGA) elections in Ebonyi State are set to take place on August 22, encompassing all 13 LGAs and 171 wards. The elections aim to elect council chairmen and councilors throughout the state.

In preparation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) initiated its campaign on Monday in Ikwo, focusing on grassroots mobilization. Leaders from Ikwo LGA and surrounding areas stressed the necessity of increasing the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to ensure electoral success across the state.

Governor Francis Nwifuru, represented by Deputy Governor Mrs. Patricia Obila, presented the party's chairmanship candidate, Mr. Chidi Nwode, and urged party members to unite for a decisive victory. Nwifuru described the candidates as “tested, trusted, and marketable,” and called for issue-based campaigns while discouraging actions that could disrupt the election's peaceful conduct.

Other political parties have also begun their campaigns in anticipation of the upcoming elections.
