Ebonyi LG elections proceed without incident as top officials celebrate

Senior figures in Ebonyi State praise Saturday's local government polls for orderly conduct across all 13 councils.

Elections for local government chairpersons and councillors in Ebonyi State's 13 local government areas and 171 wards took place Saturday without disruption, according to statements from state leadership. Governor Francis Nwifuru and other All Progressives Congress officials publicly acknowledged the smooth running of the polls, citing strong voter participation and absence of major disturbances.

Nwifuru, who cast his ballot at Edukwu Okemini 002 Polling Unit in Izzi Local Government Area, said the electoral process had been transparent and credible. He noted that security concerns were minimal and that voters had sufficient freedom to choose their preferred candidates without intimidation.

Osbourne Umahi, an APC chairmanship candidate in Ohaozara Local Government Area and son of Works Minister Sen. David Umahi, voted at Onuofukulu Polling Unit in Uburu. He stated that voting procedures had been conducted without incident and expressed confidence that results would align with voter preferences.

Both officials expressed satisfaction with how the elections unfolded, though neither source provided detailed turnout figures or specific incidents that might have occurred at individual polling stations. The statements represent the view from the APC, the dominant political force in the state, but do not include observations from other political parties or independent election monitors.
