PDP Condemns Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru Over 2027 Threats

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru for his remarks directed at newly sworn-in local government chairmen, urging them to secure victories for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections or face removal from office. PDP Publicity Secretary Darlington Peter-Onwe made this statement during a live radio program, asserting that the governor's comments could incite political violence.

He demanded that Nwifuru either apologize to the people of Ebonyi or resign, claiming that his statements violate constitutional principles regarding the protection of lives and property. Nwifuru had previously dismissed allegations of harassment by APC members against political critics and warned that opposition members would face "real threats." He instructed the chairmen to ensure APC dominance in their local councils, threatening removal for those who fail to deliver.

Peter-Onwe contrasted Nwifuru's leadership with that of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, who publicly apologized for a disruption in the education sector, emphasizing accountability.
