Mbaishii Youths Association Condemns Police Actions

The Mbaishii Youths Association (MYA) condemned the Imo State Police Command for alleged unlawful arrests and harassment of community members following a land dispute with Zion Ministry, founded by Evangelist Ebuka Obi. In a statement issued on Thursday by President Kelechi Onyeike and Secretary Osinachi Okere, they expressed shock at the police's disrespect for traditional authority, particularly the detention of HRH Eze Hyacinth Nwamadi, Nma II of Eziama Ancient Kingdom.

The MYA described the police raid on August 16, 2026, as a violation of human rights, detailing the abduction of a newlywed groom and the assault of a community member who questioned the police's actions. The unrest reportedly stems from a petition regarding the destruction of a fence at Zion Ministry's site.

The MYA called for the immediate release of all unlawfully detained individuals and warned that continued police harassment could escalate tensions in the community.
