Enuogu Community Leaders Demand Probe into Misinformation

Community leaders and stakeholders of Enuogu Autonomous Community in Nkerefi, Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State have issued a statement calling for an investigation by the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) into what they describe as a campaign of blackmail and misinformation aimed at their leadership. They specifically defended Dr. Charles Egumgbe, the Enugu State Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, against allegations of bias and marginalization of Ihuezeofia village.

The leaders, including traditional ruler Igwe Emmanuel Onukwube, Caretaker Committee Chairman Mr. Isaac Ugbor, and Secretary Barrister Abel Ani, condemned the accusations as false and part of a pattern of subversive activities by individuals seeking to create instability for personal gain. They urged the public and the state government to disregard the claims, asserting that the individuals behind the misinformation do not represent the community and have a history of disrupting progress whenever development initiatives arise.
