ECOWAS Bank Funds Bauchi's $91.6m Transport Projects

The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and the Bauchi State Government signed a financing agreement of $91.63 million at EBID Headquarters in Lomé, Togo. The agreement was executed by Dr.

George Agyekum Donkor, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EBID, and Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State. The funding will be allocated for the construction and completion of 24 strategic road and bridge projects throughout Bauchi State.

This initiative aims to improve connectivity between urban and rural areas, facilitate access to markets and essential services, reduce transport costs, and strengthen agricultural and commercial value chains. The Bauchi State Transport Infrastructure Financing Programme (BSTIFP) is expected to create approximately 5,000 jobs during construction and 2,000 permanent jobs upon completion.

Donkor emphasized EBID’s commitment to transformative infrastructure projects, while Mohammed highlighted the partnership's significance for the state's economic resilience and growth.
