Bauchi Secures $91.6M Infrastructure Financing from EBID

The Bauchi State Government has successfully secured a $91.6 million infrastructure financing agreement with the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) following 18 months of negotiations, supported by a federal government guarantee. Governor Senator Bala Abdukadir Mohammed announced this development on Wednesday after returning from EBID's headquarters in Lomé, Togo.
The financing, which is included in the 2026 budget, is expected to be accessed in August. Governor Mohammed expressed confidence that all ongoing road projects will be completed before the end of his administration.
The financing will cover additional road projects, including the Mararraban Liman Katagum-Bununu, Soro-Miya, Gumau-Kaduna border, and Bara-Wanka roads in Kirfi Local Government Area. The governor also committed to resuming stalled urban renewal projects, including roads and bridges in Bauchi metropolis, emphasizing that these projects now have full financial backing.
The investments aim to reduce travel time, improve access to agricultural communities, and enhance Bauchi State's economic development and connectivity.
