FEC Approves $1.2bn for Sokoto–Badagry Highway Project

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved a financing package of $1.2 billion for the second section of the Sokoto–Badagry super highway, which will run through Kebbi State. This project is expected to improve connectivity and boost economic activities across 11 states along the corridor.

Additionally, the council approved a $160 million solar energy project in Niger State, which includes $150 million from the Islamic Development Bank and a $10 million counterpart fund from the Niger State government. This solar facility aims to expand access to rural electrification.

Taiwo Oyeleke, the Minister of Finance, disclosed these approvals during a briefing at the State House following the FEC meeting, which reviewed a total of 14 memoranda presented by various ministries.
