ECWA Raises Alarm Over Kidnapping Crisis in Kwara

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has expressed alarm following a recent incident in Kwara State where a member, Omoniyi Ajis, was reportedly killed by kidnappers, and his wife along with four other residents were abducted in Oyatedo Village, Irepodun Local Government Area. This incident occurred on Wednesday, prompting ECWA leaders to convene a security meeting in Omu Aran, where they issued a communiqué signed by Chairman Samuel Adewumi and Secretary Joseph Agboluaj.

The church highlighted the increasing frequency of kidnappings affecting rural communities, particularly during the peak cashew harvest season, which is vital for local livelihoods. They called on the federal and state governments to urgently strengthen security operations in the affected areas.

Despite the alarming situation, the Kwara State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Superintendent Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, stated they were not aware of the incident but are committed to ensuring safety in the state. The church continues to support peace efforts and encourages members to remain law-abiding.
