Edo Attack: ADC Demands IG Investigation Amid Blame Game

On Tuesday, gunmen attacked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat in Edo State, injuring members and damaging property. This incident has sparked a blame game among political parties, particularly between the ADC and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

ADC members, including former Nigerian Bar Association President Olumide Akpata and former Edo Governor John Odigie Oyegun, condemned the attack, calling it a premeditated assassination attempt. ADC representatives, including Peter Obi and Yunusa Tanko, demanded an independent investigation led by the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to identify and prosecute those responsible.

The ADC described the attack as part of a broader pattern of violence against opposition leaders in Nigeria. The APC has denied involvement, with its chairman, Jarret Tenebe, accusing the ADC of making unfounded allegations.

The incident raises concerns about political violence and the need for government intervention to protect citizens.
