Edo State Condemns Student Violence at Igbinedion School

The Edo State Ministry of Education, led by Permanent Secretary Edith Ebomoyi, condemned a violent incident involving students at Igbinedion Educational Centre in Benin City. A disturbing video that circulated on social media depicted two male students physically assaulting a third student.

The ministry described the behavior as completely unacceptable and contrary to the values of discipline and respect within educational institutions. In response to the incident, the ministry formed a five-member investigative committee tasked with thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault and identifying those responsible.

Appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against any students found culpable, in accordance with the rules and regulations governing conduct in Edo State schools. The ministry emphasized that the safety of every child in school is a top priority and will not tolerate bullying or violence.

Parents and the school administration were assured that justice would be served, and further updates will be communicated following the committee's investigation.
