Edo Deputy Governor Launches Health Insurance for 4,000

On Thursday, the Edo State Deputy Governor announced the rollout of a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) program aimed at providing health insurance coverage for approximately 4,000 residents of the Ovia Federal Constituency, which includes Ovia South-West and Ovia North-East Local Government Areas. The initiative, facilitated by Idahosa during his tenure as a member of the House of Representatives, has already enrolled over 2,000 beneficiaries, with plans for an additional batch to reach the target.

NHIA cards were presented by Dr. Theodore Ehannire, the Edo State Coordinator of NHIA, to the Deputy Governor and Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion, the current representative of Ovia Federal Constituency.

Idahosa emphasized that the program aims to alleviate the financial burden of healthcare and improve access to quality services. Ehannire confirmed that all medical expenses under the scheme are prepaid, allowing beneficiaries to receive services without direct payments.

Igbinedion praised the initiative as a significant intervention for constituents' quality of life.
