Edo Governor Okpebholo Appoints 4,800 Special Assistants

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has appointed 4,800 special assistants as part of a strategy to strengthen grassroots governance and enhance participation among All Progressives Congress (APC) members. The announcement was made during a meeting with APC members from the 18 local government areas at the Government House in Benin City.

According to a statement from the governor's media aide, Patrick Ebojele, the appointments aim to ensure that government programs reach the grassroots level. Okpebholo emphasized that the appointments recognize the collective efforts of APC members in achieving electoral victory.

He stated that the party is the APC and that governance must be taken to the grassroots. APC state chairman Jarret Tenebe praised the governor for his initiatives to strengthen the party and noted that 25 special assistants would be appointed in each of the 192 wards, totaling 4,800.

The meeting also discussed the criteria for selecting beneficiaries of these appointments.
