Edo State and FG Collaborate on Water and Security Projects

On Tuesday, Governor Mondai Okpebholo of Edo State reaffirmed the state's commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government to enhance water infrastructure and security. During a meeting at the Government House in Benin with Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Joseph Terlumun Utsev, Okpebholo highlighted the critical need for federal-state partnerships, particularly in the water sector.

He expressed concerns over resource wastage and vandalism, stating that such actions are unacceptable. The governor announced ongoing plans to establish security outfits in vulnerable areas, including Obayantor, to protect lives and infrastructure.

He assured that Edo State would meet its 25% counterpart funding obligation for the Jattu Dam project in Etsako West Local Government Area, which aims to address water challenges in Edo North. Minister Utsev commended the state's cooperation and emphasized the importance of safeguarding federal water infrastructure from encroachment and vandalism.

The collaboration aims to boost agricultural productivity and improve rural water supply across the state.
