Edo Government Disavows Aide's Remarks on ADC Members

The Edo State government has officially distanced itself from remarks made by Emmanuel Egogo, an aide to Governor Mondai Okpebholo, which were perceived as politically controversial. Kassim Afegbua, the state's Commissioner for Information, clarified that the government does not support intimidation or suppression of opposition voices.

The controversy arose from a viral video in which Egogo suggested potential political interference in security operations, referencing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its members, including opposition figure Peter Obi. Afegbua stressed that law enforcement agencies are responsible for maintaining order and must operate within legal frameworks.

He reiterated that the administration welcomes opposition as a vital component of democracy and urged the media to report fairly. The government remains focused on promoting unity, security, and development across Edo State, despite claims of political intolerance and defections from the ADC to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
