Edo Government Recovers 500 Public Properties, Establishes Protection Committee

The Edo State Government has recovered 500 public properties unlawfully held by individuals, as revealed by the Chairman of the Public Property Protection Committee, Okolois. The government signed the Edo State Public Property Protection Law 2025 to safeguard and recover state assets, with a statutory body overseeing the process.

The law prescribes a 10-year imprisonment for those found guilty of forcefully encroaching on government-owned properties. The government aims to restore order and respect for public assets across the state, particularly in urban areas like Benin City.
