Edo Government Issues Ultimatum to Ex-Deputy Governor to Return State Assets

The Edo State Government has given former Deputy Governor Godwin Omobayo a one-week deadline to return state assets he allegedly acquired unlawfully during his tenure. Omobayo, who was sworn in on April 8, 2024, following the fallout between former Governor Godwin Obaseki and Phillip Shaibu, has been accused of retaining several official items, including vehicles and documents, despite multiple reminders to surrender them.

Failure to comply within the stipulated period may lead to his arrest by the Edo State Police Command. The government emphasizes that all assets acquired during public service must be returned upon leaving office to uphold public trust and the law.
