Igbinedion University Celebrates Founder at 92nd Birthday

On Tuesday, the Governing Council and Management of Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO) celebrated Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the institution’s Founder and Chancellor, on his 92nd birthday. The university hosted a special lecture to honor Igbinedion for his pioneering contributions to private university education in Nigeria.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye praised Igbinedion as an exceptional Nigerian whose vision transformed the educational landscape. He emphasized that Igbinedion’s legacy is reflected in the lives uplifted and opportunities created through his investments in education and philanthropy.

Ezemonye noted that Igbinedion University, established as Nigeria’s first private university, continues to produce globally competitive graduates. The event was attended by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Ahmed Tijani Mora, and featured a lecture by Prof. Yakubu Aboki Ochefu titled “A Tapestry of Nine Decades of Wisdom, Still Counting: The Journey and the Legacy.” The celebration aimed to inspire younger generations to pursue excellence and serve humanity.
