Edo Kidnap Victims Escape as Abductors Fall Asleep

Eleven individuals kidnapped in Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, managed to escape when their abductors fell asleep. The victims were taken by six armed men on January 12 and held for four days.

During their captivity, they were forced to walk through the bush and were maltreated. One victim, Gloria Inyanugbo, revealed that her husband paid a ransom of N3 million for her release.

The Edo State Police Command, represented by Braimah Destini, confirmed the escape and noted that police gunfire was heard during the night, which prompted the victims to flee. The command has been actively conducting operations against kidnapping and other violent crimes, resulting in the arrest of 32 suspects in June and the rescue of 38 kidnapping victims.

The police emphasized their commitment to combating crime in Edo State and thanked the public for their cooperation.
