Edo Police Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims in Ogbido Community

On Saturday, the Edo State Police Command announced the rescue of eleven kidnap victims from Ogbido Community in Iyahmo, Edo North. The rescue operation was initiated following a distress call received by the police.

The operation took place on Thursday at 8:20 PM, led by the police division in Iyahmo, in collaboration with local vigilante hunters. During the operation, the rescue team encountered the kidnappers, leading to a fierce gun duel.

The superior firepower of the police forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding forest. The rescued individuals included nine males and two females, all reported to be unhurt.

The victims were identified as Braimah Destini (46), Aruna Idri (38), Abudu Sharafadeem (38), Godwin Elizabeth (28), Jame Favour (28), Nonso Ana (30), Abdulilia Ozigi (26), Lambo Jame (27), Wasia Abdul (48), Lucki Emmanuel (24), and Suleman Aliyu (25). The victims were taken to the hospital for medical examination and subsequently reunited with their families.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
