Edo Police Rescue Four Kidnapped Victims in Operation

The Edo State Police Command announced the successful rescue of four kidnapped victims on July 30, 2026, following a coordinated operation involving police operatives and other security stakeholders. The victims, identified as Muritala Babatunde, Bello Aminat, Otor Prince, and Yeiyah Gift, were abducted around 10:40 p.m. by armed men dressed in vigilante uniforms who had blocked the Ugbokun axis of the Lagos/Benin Expressway.

Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer of the Okada Division mobilized a team that included members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and local hunters. They conducted an aggressive bush-combing operation, supported by drone technology, to locate the victims.

The pressure exerted on the criminals led to their flight, allowing the police to rescue the hostages unharmed. The victims have since been reunited with their families.
