Edo State Approves Closed Camping for Niger Delta Games Preparation

Edo State has sanctioned a two-week closed camp program for chosen athletes and coaches in preparation for the second edition of the Niger Delta Games set to take place in Benin City from February 20 to 27. Bright Idahosa, the Secretary of the Edo State Liaison Committee for the Niger Delta Games, revealed that trials have commenced to select athletes from the region.

The closed camp, starting on Sunday, aims to intensify training and fine-tune preparations for the games, with athletes falling within the approved age bracket. The trials, overseen by Amadin Enabulele, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission and Chairman of the State Liaison Committee, are expected to conclude on Friday.

The Edo State government is in the final stages of readiness to host the Niger Delta Games, with various sports associations participating in the selection process to ensure the best athletes represent the state.
