Edo Police Rescue Six Passengers from Kidnappers

On May 9, 2026, a commercial bus belonging to Young Shall Grow Motors was attacked by armed men in Ogua Community, Edo State, while traveling from Akwa Ibom State to Lagos. Thirteen passengers were abducted during the incident.

The Edo State Police Command, led by spokesperson Eno Ikoedem, launched a rescue operation that spanned three days, culminating in the recovery of six remaining passengers. The operation included the deployment of drones for aerial surveillance and intelligence gathering, which facilitated the rescue.

On May 10, 2026, five passengers, consisting of two adults and three children, were rescued, followed by the recovery of two additional passengers. The police have urged the public to assist in apprehending the perpetrators behind the kidnapping.

Commissioner of Police Mondai Agbonika commended the efforts of the police involved in the operation.
