Edo Police Rescue 13 Abducted Victims on Expressway

The Edo State Police Command successfully rescued 13 victims who were abducted along the Benin-Lagos Expressway. The incident occurred on May 9 when armed hoodlums attacked a commercial bus belonging to Young Shall Grow Motors, traveling from Akwa Ibom to Lagos.

During the attack, a female passenger sustained gunshot injuries. Following the incident, the police launched a coordinated rescue operation that included aerial surveillance using drones and bush combing tactics.

ASP Eno Ikoedem, the police spokesperson, reported that five victims, comprising two adults and three children, were rescued on May 10. The operation was intelligence-driven and involved a gun duel with the kidnappers.

The police are committed to apprehending the perpetrators and have intensified their efforts in the ongoing bush combing operations. Edo State Commissioner of Police Mondai Agbonika commended the courage and resilience of the officers involved in the operation.
