Edo Queries AAU VC Over NELFUND Access Issues

The Edo State Ministry of Education has raised concerns with Professor Eunic Omonzeji, the Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma, regarding the failure of students to access the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). A letter dated June 24, 2026, signed by P.O.

Omionawel on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, expressed worry that no student from the university benefited from the N242 billion disbursed by the federal government for the NELFUND program during the 2025/2026 academic session. The Ministry has urged the Vice Chancellor to treat the matter with urgency and respond by July 10, 2026, to enable the Ministry to provide an adequate briefing to the Edo State Governor.

The letter also highlighted the Ministry's displeasure regarding the implementation of NELFUND at the university and requested clarification on the challenges students face in accessing the loans. Additionally, Dr.
