Education Key to Tinubu's $1 Trillion Economy Goal

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, emphasized that education is crucial for President Bola Tinubu's ambition to transform Nigeria into a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

During an interview, Alausa outlined the government's strategy to enhance human capital through improved access to quality education and reforms in the tertiary education sector. He stated that the administration aims to produce graduates who can compete globally and meet Nigeria's development needs.

Notably, enrolment in nursing schools has surged from about 20,000 to approximately 50,000 under the current administration, with significant increases in admissions for medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry. Alausa attributed these advancements to President Tinubu's commitment to education, which he described as a key pillar of the economic transformation agenda.

He also mentioned the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), designed to be financially sustainable to support students over generations.
