Education Minister Calls for Investment in Nigeria's Future

On Tuesday, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, called for increased investment in education from state governments, asserting that the sector is vital for Nigeria's future development. He spoke at a five-day executive retreat for Honourable Commissioners of Education in Nigeria, organized by the Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education in Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Ministry of Education in Abuja.

Alausa emphasized that education is not merely a social service but a cornerstone of Nigeria's economic policy, national security, and poverty reduction strategies. He urged states to focus on quality, access, and infrastructure, advocating for the use of school census data to enhance planning and monitoring.

Alausa acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in pursuing educational reforms and stressed the importance of collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments, noting that the success of education in Nigeria relies heavily on state-level initiatives.
