FCT Education Officer Advocates Teacher Training for Improvement
Aishatu Jafaar Suleiman, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Secondary Education Board Desk Officer for Robotic Education, has called for extensive training and retraining of teachers to bridge educational gaps between teachers and students in the FCT. Suleiman made this statement in Abuja on Monday during a sensitisation programme organized by Change a Child Community Initiative at Government Day Secondary School, Dutse Alhaji, and Government Secondary School, Kubwa, in the Bwari Area Council.
She acknowledged the efforts of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in renovating schools and providing materials but emphasized the urgent need for teacher development. Suleiman stated, “We are not asking for too much, but for training and retraining so that we can give our best.” She also mentioned her personal commitment to professional development through online courses.
Blessing Okwuchukwu Awamba, Founder and Lead Educator of Change a Child Community Initiative, shared that the programme aims to instill values in school children and is designed for expansion to various states over five years.
