Kogi Commissions Model Science Schools, Urges Funding Boost

On Monday, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Nigeria's Minister of Education, called for increased funding in the education sector while officiating the commissioning of the GYB Model Science Secondary School in Nagazi, Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi State.

He urged Governor Ahm Usman Ododo to prioritize adequate funding for education, commending his unwavering commitment to educational reform and prudent resource management. Dr.

Alausa noted that the Federal Ministry of Education is implementing extensive reforms aimed at strengthening technical education and promoting girl-child education, with 160,000 youths currently undergoing skill acquisition across 1,200 centers nationwide. He stressed the importance of maintaining focus on studies and highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to ensuring quality education for Nigerian youth.

Governor Ododo explained that the establishment of the model school is part of a broader mega school initiative aimed at expanding access to quality education and modern facilities across strategic locations in Kogi State, aligning with the federal government's vision for human capital development.
