EFCC Accused of Blocking Forensic Review in Emefiele's Fraud Trial

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is accused of obstructing a court-ordered forensic review in the $4.5 billion fraud trial involving former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele. Emefiele's legal team alleged that EFCC operatives impeded the examination of crucial WhatsApp messages on Emefiele's mobile phone, violating a judicial directive.

The trial, before Justice Rahman Oshodi at the Ikeja Special Offences Court, centers on corruption charges against Emefiele and Henry Omoile. Despite court orders, the EFCC's refusal to grant full access to the evidence has raised concerns about the integrity of the legal process.
