EFCC Hits Back at ADC Over Political Bias, Opposition Witchhunt Allegations

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has responded to allegations of political bias and opposition witch-hunt made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The EFCC refuted claims that it targets opposition politicians, stating that it operates independently and is not swayed by political pressure.

The ADC had accused the government of using the EFCC to intimidate opposition leaders, citing the detention of former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal and a request for information on former Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha. The EFCC emphasized that it investigates all corruption allegations without bias, including those involving members of the ruling party.

The EFCC urged the ADC to focus on its partisan activities and not interfere with ongoing investigations, warning that politically charged statements could harm the country's stability.
