EFCC Seeks Permanent Seizure of 57 Properties Linked to Malami

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a motion in the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking the permanent seizure of 57 properties allegedly linked to former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. The EFCC's legal team, led by Jibrin Okutepa and Ekel Iheanacho, argues that the properties were acquired through unlawful activities, including advanced fee fraud.

The court had previously granted an interim forfeiture order, which the EFCC now seeks to convert into a final order. The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/20/2026, involves properties across Abuja, Kebbi, Kano, and Kaduna, with a total estimated value of N213.2 billion.

Justice Joyc Abdulmalik has scheduled a hearing for April 21. The EFCC's investigation, led by Daniel Adebayo, revealed that Malami's official earnings during his tenure from 2015 to 2023 were significantly lower than the value of the assets in question, raising suspicions of corruption and abuse of office.
