Sule Lamido Faces N1.35bn Fraud Trial; Court Adjourns

Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa State, is currently involved in a money laundering trial concerning N1.35 billion, prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Alongside Lamido, his son Aminu Mustapha and associates Aminu Wada Abubakar are also implicated.

During a court session presided over by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, the defense team requested additional time to prepare for the testimony of a witness summoned by the EFCC. EFCC counsel Chile Okoroma opposed this request, arguing that the defense had already submitted relevant documents to the court.

Justice Ojukwu ultimately decided to suspend proceedings for an hour to allow the defense to meet with the witness, stating that the witness was not part of the investigative team. The case has been adjourned until June 4 for further proceedings.
