Egbesu Assembly to Sue FG, Demand 24 More LGs in Bayelsa State

The Egbesu Assembly, a prominent Ijaw socio-cultural group in Bayelsa State, led by Felix Tuodolo, a former president of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), is initiating legal proceedings against the Federal Government. They aim to compel the government to establish 24 more local governments in Bayelsa State, citing fiscal control inadequacies and the 13% derivation meant for the Ijaw people.

Despite Bayelsa fulfilling the requirements to create new local governments, the National Assembly has not ratified the creation of the proposed 24 areas. The group, including members like Primros Oringeriya Kpolokposei and Rosanna Jackson, is committed to seeking justice through legal means to rectify perceived injustices faced by the Bayelsa Ijaw community.
