eHealth Africa Launches Innovations Against Climate Change

eHealth Africa unveiled digital innovations to address climate change and enhance the management of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) at the 6th Africa Digital Health Summit held in Abuja. Ota Akhigb, Director of Partnership Program at eHealth Africa, and Dr.

David Akpan, Deputy Director of Partnership Program, led technical sessions showcasing a climate vulnerability assessment tool designed for primary healthcare facilities. This tool aims to identify climate risks and strengthen preparedness against climate-related health threats.

Edi Jeremiah Toju Ogel also presented a decision tree application that supports frontline health workers in improving clinical decision-making and disease management. Akhigb emphasized the importance of sustainable collaboration across government, funders, and private sector partners to ensure the long-term success of health innovations.

She noted that sustainability begins when innovations are integrated into government systems and everyday healthcare delivery. The summit also set the stage for future collaborations through the Insight Learn Forum, aimed at strengthening health systems across Africa.
