Kano State Declares March 1 Holiday for Eid-el-Fitr

The Kano State government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf, has officially declared March 1 as a holiday for both public and private primary and post-primary schools in the state to mark Eid-el-Fitr. This development was communicated in a statement issued by Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Kano State Ministry of Education.

The decision aligns with the approved academic calendar for 2025-2026, which indicates that the second term will conclude on Saturday, February 28. Yakasai urged parents and guardians, particularly those with children in schools, to make adequate arrangements ahead of the holiday.

He clarified that the academic session is scheduled to resume on Sunday, March 22, 2026, with students expected to return to school on Monday, March 23. The second term will run from March 22 to April 18.

Ali Makoda, the State Commissioner for Education, called for strict adherence to the resumption schedule and expressed appreciation for the community's continued support of government policies in the education sector.
