INEC Moves Sensitive Materials for Ekiti Governorship Election

As the Ekiti State governorship election approaches, scheduled for June 20, 2023, security agencies are intensifying preparations to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to begin the movement of sensitive electoral materials across the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.

Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti State, confirmed that the distribution of materials, including ballot papers and voter accreditation machines, will commence today.

The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the successful airlift of sensitive electoral materials to support the election, with operations conducted on June 15 and 16. Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodam stated that the airlift was part of a mission to guarantee the secure transport of electoral materials from Abuja to various locations.

The Nigerian Police Force is also deploying 10,000 personnel as part of a comprehensive security framework to safeguard the polls.
