Police Complete Security Deployment for Ekiti Election

The Nigeria Police Force announced the completion of its comprehensive security deployment for the Ekiti State governorship election, set to take place on Saturday. The deployment covers 2,545 polling units across the state, focusing on critical infrastructure, major entry and exit routes, and strategic locations.

Commissioner of Police Shogun Abayomi confirmed that a multi-layered security architecture has been adopted to ensure a peaceful, credible, and hitch-free electoral process. Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu assured the public that personnel assigned to electoral duties have been adequately briefed on their responsibilities.

He warned that any electoral offenses undermining the integrity of the electoral process would be dealt with according to the Electoral Act and extant laws. The police encouraged residents to report security concerns through a dedicated emergency line, which will remain active throughout the election period, and urged eligible voters to exercise their constitutional rights peacefully.
