Police Restrict Movement in Ekiti for Governorship Election

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a directive to restrict both inter-state and intra-state vehicular movement across Ekiti State on the day of the governorship election, scheduled for Saturday. This restriction will take effect from 12 AM to 6 PM and is part of comprehensive security arrangements aimed at ensuring a violence-free electoral process.

The police command, through its public relations officer, Dr. Abayomi Shogunle, stated that the restrictions will prevent the movement of political thugs and criminal elements that may attempt to disrupt the electoral process.

However, students taking national examinations will be exempt from these restrictions, as will essential personnel such as INEC staff, accredited journalists, and medical personnel, provided they carry valid identification. The police have urged residents to comply with these measures to maintain peace and allow voters to exercise their rights freely.

Additionally, the police will not hesitate to deal decisively with any individuals or groups attempting to violate these orders.
