Police and INEC Ensure Secure Election Material Distribution

Ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, the Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have assured the public of the secure distribution of election materials. The distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive materials commenced across the 16 local government areas.

Police Commissioner Abayomi Shogunle stated that security personnel would escort the materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Ado Ekiti to local government headquarters and polling units. The security framework includes a multi-layered approach approved by the Inspector General of Police, aimed at preventing any security breaches during the election.

Shogunle also addressed concerns regarding identified flashpoints, particularly in the Ilejemeje Local Government Area, and confirmed that adequate measures have been put in place based on intelligence reports. Dr.

Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti State, expressed satisfaction with the distribution process, urging residents to participate peacefully in the election.
