Jamiu Rejects Consensus Endorsement for Fayose's Son

Hakeem Jamiu, the former Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly rejected a consensus move that purportedly endorses Boluwatif Fayose, son of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, as the candidate for the Irepodun Ifelodun State Constituency II seat in the 2027 elections. Jamiu expressed his opposition during a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Monday, denying claims that stakeholders had endorsed Fayose during a meeting held on March 14, 2026, in Iworoko, Ekiti.

He emphasized that he attended the meeting but did not participate in any endorsement, labeling the consensus arrangement as premature and preposterous. Jamiu also raised concerns about the potential for violence at the meeting, alleging that he was assaulted and threatened by a ward councillor.

He reaffirmed his commitment to due process and internal democracy within the APC ahead of the upcoming primaries.
