Oyebanji Wins Ekiti Governorship Election, Promises Unity

Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, celebrated his re-election on June 20, 2023, where he secured 319,224 votes, defeating Wole Oluyed of the People's Democratic Party, who garnered 40,543 votes, and Oluwadar Bejid of the African Democratic Congress, who received 12,872 votes. In a statement, Oyebanji invited Oluyed and Bejid to collaborate in building a prosperous Ekiti State.

He expressed gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support and emphasized the peaceful conduct of the elections across the 16 local government areas. Oyebanji acknowledged the role of various stakeholders, including traditional rulers and political leaders, in maintaining peace during the electoral process.

He noted that his re-election marked a historic moment as he became the first governor in Ekiti State's 29-year history to win two consecutive governorship elections. Oyebanji reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance and delivering greater dividends of democracy during his second term.
