Oluyede Requests Investigation into Ekiti Election Results

In the aftermath of the Ekiti State governorship election, Dr. Wole Oluyede, the candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), revealed his requests to Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a visit to his residence in Iker Ekiti.

Oluyede rejected the election outcome, citing compromises in the electoral process and technical failures, and he called for an investigation into the alleged misconduct. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Oyebanji the winner with 319,224 votes, defeating Oluyede, who garnered 40,543 votes.

Oluyede expressed surprise at the election results and emphasized that democracy cannot thrive if individuals are not allowed to contest freely and fairly. He noted that he accepted the outcome but highlighted serious concerns regarding electoral integrity and the need for accountability.

Oluyede requested that Oyebanji ensure the release of arrested party members and promised to investigate the incidents raised.
