PDP Candidate Wole Oluyede Rejects Ekiti Election Results

Wole Oluyede, the governorship candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), publicly rejected the results of the Ekiti State governorship election held on June 20. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress as the winner, with Oyebanji receiving 319,224 votes, while Oluyede secured 40,543 votes, placing second.

Oluyede's campaign director, Sanya Atofarati, issued a statement in Ado Ekiti on Monday, asserting that the electoral process was deeply flawed and did not reflect the true will of the people. The PDP expressed concerns over widespread irregularities, including voter intimidation and harassment, which they believe undermined the integrity of the election.

Oluyede urged party members to remain calm and peaceful while consulting on appropriate steps to defend their mandate, emphasizing the need for justice and adherence to democratic principles.
