IGP Deploys CP Shogunle for Ekiti Governorship Election

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has announced the deployment of Abayomi Shogunle as the Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State in preparation for the governorship election set for June 20, 2026. This decision aims to provide adequate security and ensure a peaceful electoral process.

In a statement made available to journalists by the Ekiti State Police Command's spokesperson, Sunday Abutu, the deployment is part of a broader strategy to implement security measures approved by the Inspector General. Shogunle will work to strengthen security protocols, collaborate with sister security agencies, and engage with stakeholders to neutralize political violence and misinformation.

The Ekiti State Police Command has committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring a credible election. Shogunle's previous experience includes overseeing security during the Anambra State governorship election in November 2025.
